✨✧ Procol HarumGrand Hotel ... LP
Chrysalis, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold ... $9.99
Procol Harum check into the Grand Hotel – and check out with one of their greatest albums ever! The set's got that majestic sound that was the group's strongest point – a strange mix of the very personal vocals of Gary Brooker and the expansive blend of piano, organ, and guitar that the group often sent soaring to the skies – augmented here with some perfect use of strings and chorus – never too heavy, but all fused perfectly with the core energy of the sextet! In fact, it's that sense of compression – of folding everything together so well – that really makes the group so great, and such an important precursor for so many acts that were beginning to blossom in the UK scene, using a similar approach in different ways. Yet it's that Gary Brooker/Keith Reid sense of songwriting that still sets these guys apart from anyone else – as you'll hear on titles that include "Grand Hotel", "Tojours L'Amour", "TV Caesar", "A Souvenir Of London", "Robert's Box", "Fires", "For Liquorice John", and "A Rum Tale". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark)Architecture & Morality (die-cut cover) ... LP
Virgin, 1981. Very Good- ... Out Of Stock
A slightly warmer sound than before from OMD – an album of well put together pop tunes that still hold true to the simple basis of their roots! At this point, the group's really got their sound down wonderfully – and they've also learned how to write slightly better pop hooks than before – still edgey and a bit dark, but also the kind of tunes that make you say "hey, what's this?" more than you might have with some of the earlier records. Titles include "Joan Of Arc", "The New Stone Age", "She's Leaving", "Souvenir", and "The Beginning and The End". LP, Vinyl record album
(German pressing in a yellow die-cut cover. Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover is torn at the die-cut, about 2 inches.)

✨✧ John PrinePrime Prine – Best Of John Prine ... LP
Atlantic, 1976. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The compilation that capped off a younger John Prine's early years at Atlantic Records – and if it might have come off as a bit prematurely titled at at time given the treasure trove of "best of" level material Prine would record for decades to come, there's no question after all these years ther is plenty of genuinely prime Prine songs here! John's Atlantic albums still stand as some of the finest folk rock ever put out by the label, hislyrics and vocals that distinctive mix of wit and grit, Arif Mardin's production smart enough to keep things spare and intimate when necessary, and to bring in some lusher touches at times. Includes "Sam Stone", "Saddle In The Rain", "Pease Don't Bury Me", "Grandpa Was A Carpenter", "Donald & Lydia", "Illegal Smile", "Sweet Revenge", "Souvenirs", "Come Back To Us Barbara Lewis Hare Krishna Beauregard" and "Hello In There". (Folk/Country, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album
(Rockefeller label pressing. Cover has some light staining on the opening and light wear.)
Also available Prime Prine – Best Of John Prine ... CD 3.99
