✨✧ VariousKent's Cellar Of Soul ... CD
Kent (UK), 1960s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A really socking collection of 60s soul – reissued with great notes, excellent sound, and a stunning selection of tunes that includes many many rare numbers! The package is made up nearly entirely of tracks from rare singles – and the groove runs from Northern Soul, to sock boogaloo soul, to hard-stepping female numbers, and even a bit of funk! The groove is very strong all the way through, and titles include "Chain Reaction" by The Spellbinders, "A Lot Of Love" by Homer Banks, "She's Looking Good" by Rodger Collins, "My Elusive Dreams" by Moses & Joshua Dillard, "You Gave Me Somebody To Love" by The Dreamlovers, "Get It From The Bottom" by The Steelers, "I Must Love You" by The Falcons, "Shine It On" by Vernon Garrett, "Keep My Woman Home" by Danny White, "She Shot A Hole In My Soul" by Clifford Curry, "Save Your Money" by Lonnie Mack, "You Left The Water Running" by Barbara Lynn, "That's How Strong My Love Is" by OV Wright & The Keys, "Soul Serenade" by Beau Dollar & The Coins, "The Real Thing" by Tina Britt, "Hole In The Wall" by The Packers, and "Karate Boo Ga Loo" by Jerry O. ✨✧ Harry NilssonSkidoo ... LP
RCA, 1968. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Wonderful stuff – Nilsson's soundtrack for one of the strangest movies of the 60s – a mad film directed by Otto Preminger, and featuring a cast of characters that included Jackie Gleason, Frank Gorshin, Peter Lawford, Cesar Romero, and Groucho Marx as God! The sounds are a weird hippy dippy soundtrack style – but also drenched in Nilsson's wry wit, which keeps them from being too silly, a good thing, if you've seen the movie! The highlight of the album is the incredible "The Cast & Crew" – a number that rolled at the beginning of the film, in which Nilsson sings the name of everyone associated with the production – including the lighting guys and electrician! Other tracks include "Green Bay Packers March", "Angie's Suite", "The Tree", and "Garbage Can Ballet". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ WarOther Side Of War Warms Your Heart ... LP
Souffle, Late 60s. Very Good 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A nice one, and a strange batch of instrumental grooves played by what is billed as an early version of War – with Lonnie Jordan on piano and organ, Harold Brown on drums, Magnificent Montague on congas, and Bobby Womack on guitar! The liner notes lists the group as being made up of members of The Packers, The Romeos, and The Soul Runners – and if you know those groups from their funky 45's, then you'll get a feeling of the funky instrumental sound of this album. It's not really like War at all, but it's a great batch of lost funky tracks from the LA scene, with titles like "On Fire", "La Chanson", "Blusing Tears", "Moving Along", "Cup Of Soul", "Time Is Tight", and "The Bamboche". LP, Vinyl record album
