Great long piano grooves from the trio of Masaru Imada – augmented here with additional instrumentation as well! Masaru alone is already great – a Japanese pianist with a strong sense of rhythm – those rolling lines we love in his trio dates from the 70s, usually with a nice dose of modal energy and an undercurrent of soul. Yet here, his sound goes even farther – as the album adds in some work by Fushimi Tetsuo on trumpet, Mitsumori Ichiroh on tenor and soprano sax, and Nakajima Osamu on percussion – coming in on the latter half of the record to push things along nicely. Tracks are all very long – and titles include "Glitter", "Blackdog", "Bell Flower", "Quarter", "World Line", and "Little Step".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

One of our favorite albums ever from the legendary trumpeter Lee Morgan – a set that Blue Note recorded in the mid 60s, but didn't show the world until almost two decades later! The album's got Lee as his lyrical best – working almost with a sense of exoticism, especially on the ... CD
