Stunning stuff – and one of the few reissues we've ever seen to really do justice to this legendary New Orleans soul label! The Ric and Ron imprints were a key indie force in the development of Crescent City soul music – home to some of the better artists who didn't get scooped up by the bigger companies – still working for the hometown label to really serve up the real New Orleans vibe! This special package is put together by the joint forces of Rounder, Ace, and Numero – three labels that have already turned us onto a wealth of great music over the years – and it's a limited edition of 1500 copies, with a host of previously unreleased tracks – all pressed up as 10 funky 45s, in a sweet box with a booklet! Essential stuff for any fan of New Orleans soul – or 60s soul in general – with previously unissued tracks that include "Lena Come What May (demo)" by Al Johnson, "Found My Good Thing" and "Question Of Love" by Barbara Lynn, "I Won't Cry (audition)" and "Walking The Floor Over You" by Johnny Adams, "Blues Cha Cha" by Edgar Blanchard & The Gondoliers, "Goofer" by Paul Marvin", and "Nothing Withotu You", "Satisfied With Your Love", and "Ain't You Ashamed" by Eddie Bo.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Numero, Early 80s. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)
Two cool cuts from the Twin Cities scene – pressed up here on extra-cool purple vinyl! "I Love You" is a percolating track that has a sweetly dancing groove that works perfectly with Herman's vocal style – a bit falsetto, but right on the money – especially on the hook! ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Hurts So Bad/I Think Of You
Pro 7/Numero, New Copy
A funky funky version of "Hurts So Bad" – one that still carries all the familiar lyric of the tune, but which begins with this totally great intro that sets up a mad groove peppered with hard piano lines and guitar! The mix of the harmony vocals and the sharp groove is mighty darn ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Numero, Late 60s. New Copy
A gem of a sweet soul single from Numero – material that never got issued back in the day! "You & Me" is a tremendous little tune – very spare and sweet, with a completely catchy hook – all put together with a roughness that reminds us of the earliest days of doo ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Twinight/Numero, 1969. New Copy (reissue)
A lost gem on the legendary Twinight label – and one of the few singles cut by this excellent falsetto soul singer! "Not Too Cool" is a sweet sad ballad with incredible strings and gentle production – but even better is "Nevermore" – one of those haunting ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Numero, Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 3x7inch
Messed up funky soul from the Chicago scene – a beautiful package of rare singles from Little Ed & The Soundmasters! The style here is a bit hard to describe – as Ed and crew were schooled in blues, but brought up during the 60s soul underground – and clearly managed to pick ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Skin's Funk/Big Chase
Tramp (Germany), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)
Plenty of funky flute on Skin Williams' excellent "Skin's Funk" – a tune that romps along mightily with some tremendous heavy drums – and which has the flute almost blowing its stack with a really hard-edged solo! The tune's a beautiful cooker through and through – with ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Mo Slow/Sweet Honey Bee
Tramp (Germany), 2006. New Copy
Leave it to Tramp Records to make our turntable happy – because both cuts here are totally great! "Mo Slow" is a snapping little jazz number that feels like it was lifted from a mid 60s Lee Morgan album – less the deep funk that the label first gave us years back – and ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Turn It Over/Sleep In Girl
All Natural, 2011. New Copy (pic cover)
A great couple of cuts by producer Proh Mic for All Natural, Inc – the space funky jam "Turn It Over" Coultrain and the slower cooking cosmic style of "Sleep In Girl" featuring Tone Trezure on the flip! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Non Sports/Kate
Tramp (Germany), 2012. New Copy
Raw funk from Diazpora – a contemporary cut, but one with the same sort of gritty edge you'd expect from the Tramp label's usual rare funky 45s! "Non Sports" has an odd title, but an incredible groove – a right-on-the-money blend of fast drums, blasting horns, and riffing ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Jude/Tramp (Germany), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)
The rare early 70s funky treasure by Harmonica Paul! You might think from his name that Harmonica Paul would be more of a blues figure, but this here gem is a nicely simmering funky soul tune. The groove is raw, but absolutely killer – with Harmonica Paul singing and playing guitar – ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Soulfly/Tramp (Germany), 2013. New Copy
A spare funky number, but a great one too – just these catchy vocals, a great bassline, and percolating percussion – all with a feel that's somewhere in the territory of a lost number by Joe Quaterman! 7-inch, Vinyl record
