The overlooked collaboration between Human League singer Philip Oakey and producer Giorgio Moroder! The duo initially worked together on the outstanding "Together In Electric Dreams" single – a surprise hit from Moroder's soundtrack for a forgettable movie – and given The Human League's move towards a dancefloor sound around the same time, the timing was perfect to team up! Moroder lays down a soulful synth backdrop that rarely lets up – in fact, the first five tunes flow together almost like a continuous suite! Ultimately, this is a sweet slice of quintessentially 80s sounds – in a style that's endured – especially when you consider its influence on groups like Passion Pit a good 25 years later! Other tracks include "Now", "Why Must The Show Go On", "In Transit", "Goodbye Bad Times" "Brand New Lover (Take A Chance)", "Be My Lover Now", "Valerie" and "Shake It Up". Bonus tracks on this CD version from Gold Legion include an extended version of "Together In Electric Dreams", "In Transit/Goodbye Bad Times (12" Remix)" and "Be My Lover Now (12" Remix)".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Street Tough
Atlantic (Japan), 1981. New Copy
An overlooked gem from the later years of Ben E King – a sweet little set that shows that the singer was every bit as well suited to 70s funk as he was to the uptown soul of his roots! Ben's sweet voice soars wonderfully over bass-heavy grooves that draw on club and funk, but which also have ... CD

Only Four You
Motown (Japan), 1985. New Copy
A lasting classic from the funky female foursome who were one of the biggest acts on Motown in the mid-80s – working here with super tight production and arrangements from Rick James – who also wrote all the songs on the record too! The girls' look is a bit dated, but their sound has ... CD

A stone classic from Switch – one of Motown's leading hopes in the early 80s soul scene, and for good reason too! These guys have a wonderfully well-rounded approach – great on ballads and even more compelling on groovers – a balance here that puts them proudly in the company of ... CD

Warner (Japan), 1977. New Copy
An overlooked chapter in the New Birth sound of the 70s – one that has the group still working with all that joyous, righteous ensemble energy of their previous records – but with a slightly different vibe as well! There's been a few changes since before – no more leadership from ... CD

Check Out Your Mind
Curtom/Warner (Japan), 1970. New Copy
Righteous late 60s soul from The Impressions – the group's last album with Curtis Mayfield in the lineup! The sound here follows heavily from the Young Mods and This Is My Country years – a heavier take on the trio's soul stylings than their work over at ABC in the mid 60s – ... CD

King Of Rock & Roll
Reprise (Japan), 1971. New Copy
A much rootsier set than some of Little Richard's other work for Reprise Records – a record that almost goes back to the old days, but via the hipper styles of the early 70s! HB Barnum arranged and produced the set, but the groove is less funkier than some of Barnum's other work of the time ... CD

Really wonderful work from Don Pullen – solo material, and some of his most soulful sides of the 70s – done in this long-flowing style that's completely sublime! Pullen's really at his best in this format – working in a way that's very free, but never overindulgent or ... CD
