The amazing second album from the Lijadu Sisters – and even more amazing than the first! Like their debut, there's a sound here that's unlike anything else we can think of from the 70s African scene – but the groove is even more complex, and has a truly unique quality that's almost impossible to describe in words! Instrumentation is often nicely rootsy – with very earthy percussion at the bottom, light guitar, snaking sax lines, and some occasional electric touches on the more funky numbers – all in service of the sisters' unique back/forth vocal styles – not really harmonies, not really call-and-response – but somewhere in between! The whole record's wonderful, with a charm that's undeniable – and titles include "Osupa I", "Orin Aro", "Dibe Nuwa", "Iya Mi Jowo", and "Bayi L'Ense". (Comes with bonus download card, too!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
