Lovely samba work from Candeia – a singer with a voice that's richly expressive, but often without any effort at all – a laidback approach that's instantly compelling, laid over some lively old school arrangements! There's a bit of horns mixed in with the percussion and backing vocals – making the set feel more like some early 60s set than you'd guess from the date – and Candeia more than lives up to the spirit with an equally classic sound in his vocals! Titles include "Sorriso Antigo", "Viver", "O Pagode", "Prece Ao Sol", "Outro Recado", and "Ilusao Perdida".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Certain Smile, Certain Sadness (UK pressing)
Verve/Rev-Ola (UK), 1966. New Copy
Kind of a dream combination in one little album – especially if you dig breezy bossa from the 60s! Back in 1966, Verve Records got the great idea of teaming up its (then) biggest Brazilian imports – vocalist Astrud Gilberto and organist Walter Wanderley – both of whom were ... CD
