Intimacy

CD (Item 532461) Mercury, 1992 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

CD

4.80 5

A well-titled set, as the record's definitely more intimate than some of Walter Beasley's other albums – a nicely laidback session with an even warmer feel than before! Walter's saxophone skills are more at the forefront than his vocals, but those make a nice appearance too – warming things up nicely with a seductively soulful sound – in ways that make the record a more classic soul-styled set than the more contemporary style of Beasley's 80s work. The overall feel is still quite smooth, and titles include "Dianne", "Just Hold Me", "In The Morning", "Sisters", "Night Time", "Don't Say Goodbye", "Intimacy", and "Alone". (Out of print. Barcode has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

This is the kind of reissue we like to see! Funky pianist Gene Harris had spent most of the 60s playing in a standard trio format with his group The Three Sounds – but by the time of this live set, the group was evolving into a monster jazz funk combo, and Harris was getting beautifully ... CD
