Nothing too naked here – at least not in the over-exposed way you'd think from the word – as Teena Marie puts it all upfront, lets it all hang out, but always in a bold way that keeps her firmly on top! The album follows strongly from Marie's previous Epic albums – a strong undercurrent of the funk learned during the Rick James/Motown years, but percolated in leaner 80s soul arrangements – some nice bass bits on the bottom, a few catchy crossover riffs, and the kind of badass vocals that always made Teena an empowering artist back in the day!
