Ultra-hip work from pianist Keith Jarrett – a session that's filled with joy and life, and which has a lot more energy than some of his albums for ECM! The work here is kind of a refinement of the freer styles that Jarrett had laid down on previous albums – performed with a strongly rhythmic undercurrent, but one that also opens up to some strong top-end melodies as well – played not only by Jarrett on piano, but also by Dewey Redman on tenor, in a group with Sam Brown on guitar, Paul Motian on drums, and Guilherme Franco and Danny Johnson on percussion. Titles include "The Rich & The Poor", "Blue Streak", "Le Mistral", "Angles Without Edges", "Treasure Island", and "Sister Fortune". (Cover has some wear and a small sticker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A very unusual record – one that has Keith Jarrett playing some solo organ – and a baroque organ at that – but in ways that are quite different than you might expect! The sounds here are amazing – almost noisy at points, as Jarrett really works the instrument in an ... LP, Vinyl record album

Excellent work by Klemmer – filled with the kind of fire and emotion that you don't get on many of his other records! The set was recorded live at two different venues – and it's a choppy slightly-funky batch of modal soul jazz tunes, with an approach that makes it feel like a lost ... LP, Vinyl record album

The famous 50s team of JJ Johnson and Kai Winding are reunited strongly here – after working alone for several years on their own projects! Probably the best of Buddy's solo albums, with a tight little group that features Mel Rhyne, Jodie Christian, and his brother Monk – all coming together in a messed up style of funky jazz! Yusef Lateef explores a number of different world music rhythms on a mix of woodwind instruments that includes tenor, basoon, flute, oboe, and shanas. One of the great recordings that Yusef Lateef made when pianist Mike Nock was in his group. Nock, at this point, had a great rhythmic feel, and he gives Lateef's compositions a great modal sound that's similar to his work with the Three Out trio in Australia. Tracks include "Try Love", ... A very groooooovy set! This one has Gary working with his "& Co" ensemble – including here the 2 guitars of Barry Galbraith and Toots Thielemans, the fender bass of Bob Brookmeyer, and the trumpet work of Clark Terry and Joe Newman. The groove is jazzy Mexican – kind of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Genius, pure genius! The best of Ronnie Laws' 70s material, plus a few new tracks as well – an album that definitely lives up to its Classic Masters title!
