Pretty darn great stuff from Buddy Rich! The album's got Buddy working in a tight funky mode – with strong players like Steve Marcus on soprano and tenor, Cornell Dupree on guitar, Ray Armando on congas, Greg Kogan on piano, and Lloyd Michaels on trumpet – all of whom come together in a really solid, really hard hitting funky big band style! The best tracks are strongly driving, almost in a blacksploitation soundtrack mode – and titles include "Three Day Sucker", "Pieces Of Dreams", "Ease On Down The Road", and a pretty darn sublime 12 minute medley of tunes from The Who's "Tommy", done at a fast funky pace!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
