Warm and soulful jazz from trumpeter Leslie Drayton – an excellent player from the 80s indie scene, and an artist who could make a record like this smooth without sounding slick! The set's got a compressed, professional feel – kind of like a more R&B-styled take on soul jazz, complete with a bit of keyboards in the arrangements, as well as vocals on one track by Derf Reklaw. Drayton's horn is still out front on many tracks, though – blowing in a mix of jazz and soul fusion that's a bit similar to some of Donald Byrd's Elektra work. Titles include the smooth stepper "An Elusive Encounter", plus "Sexy Lady", "Happy Eyes", "Monday Afternoon", "Theme For Love", and "It's Time To Get Up". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
