Candido's firey conga is backed by a tight jazz group conducted by Ernie Wilkins. The players include Art Farmer, Jimmy Cleveland, Hank Jones, and Ernie Royal, and although they don't get to solo much, they play nice and hard, and give Candido great support in the background. Tracks include "Lady in Red", "Warm Blue Stream", "Tin Tin Deo", "Kinda Dukish", and "Takeela". (In great shape! Cover hasone slightly bumped corner.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

ABC, 1959. Very Good
One of the grooviest early albums recorded by Candido – done way before his later funky sides, and served up with plenty of unusual touches that set it apart from the usual 50s Latin set! Candi's very much in front of the arrangements on congas – hitting hard with a percussive fury ... LP, Vinyl record album

ABC, Late 50s. Very Good
Candido cut sooo many great Latin records over the years, spanning a wide range of styles, we have a hard time deciding which we love the best. We like to think this may be his best album from the early part of his career, specifically because it features the master conga player amidst a tight ... LP, Vinyl record album

Solid State, 1969. Very Good- Gatefold
Stone lost Latin funk! This one's Candido's rarest – and it's a killer batch of conga-heavy grooves, recorded in the late 60s for Solid State, and featuring a very groovy set of mod Latin arrangements by Joe Cain. The band features organ, guitar, bass, horns, and some upfront conga solos ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heat!
Prestige, 1968. Good+
Brilliant work – and one of Pucho's greatest albums ever! This one really gets all the elements right – from Latin jazz, to boogaloo soul, to some of that funkiness that was creeping into the group's work at the time. The fantastic Pazant Brothers (Eddie & Al) are on sax and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cotique, Late 60s. Near Mint-
One of a few albums recorded by the enigmatic vocalist Lupo – a strangely-voiced singer with a trill sound that's as compelling as his name! The album's mostly a straight ahead Latin set with a good range of material handled in traditional fashion, but it does feature one great Latin Soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1959. Very Good-
This one's a bit subdued, but it's still classic RCA material by Tito – with a strong easy Latin vibe, of the sort that went down very big with the Catskills crowd. The record's got plenty of Cha Cha and Mambo Latin jazz tracks, most of which are covers, apart from the originals "Dancing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Alegre, Mid 60s. Sealed
A killer of a Tito Puente session, and one that features Chivirico Davila on vocals! The album crackles with a very nice groove, and Davila's soulful vocals take center stage while Tito's band plays hard and heavy in the background. The whole thing's wrapped up in a cool cover that has a cartoon ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1955. Very Good
Jazzy mambos from the king – and easily the most successful of Perez Prado's albums for RCA in the 50s! The album showcases the Latin mode that Prado crossed over big with on his hit "Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White" – a tune that almost single-handedly grabbed the ... LP, Vinyl record album
