A landmark album – even if it was the only session that Cannonball Adderley ever cut for Blue Note! The album was recorded at a time when Adderley was working with Miles Davis – and as such, the session features a group that includes Miles, blowing in a cool tone that's a perfect offset to Cannonball's more soulful style. The rest of the group includes Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey – and like John Coltrane's Blue Train, the record's more of an "special session" than the usual Blue Note album, but the strength of the players make it one of the more memorable records of its day! Titles include "Somethin' Else", "One For Daddy-O", and a nice moody take on "Dancing In The Dark". (63rd street pressing. Cover has light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Cannonball Adderley recorded this nice little groover in 1962, when American musicans were just getting on the bossa tip, and still keeping things pretty authentic. Blue Note, 1970. Very Good+
One of the last great acoustic sessions before Stanley Turrentine's big electric run of the 70s – a laidback, open-ended session that really paves the way for the energy of his records on CTI – even though none of the players is plugging in at all! The tracks are all nice and long, ... LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible record that was one of the highest points of Donald Byrd's career! The album's the third one he cut with producer/arranger Larry Mizell – and of all Byrd's work with Mizell, this one's the funkiest, the tightest, the most soulful, and the most perfectly realized vision of the ... Excellent early work by organist Reuben Wilson – recorded for Blue Note, with a tight jazz funk vibe! One of the most hard-hitting Jimmy McGriff albums of the 70s – a raw live date recorded in Newark – and a set that's a perfect bridge between the sharp soul of his Sue Records sessions and his later funk to come!
