Their classic double live set from the mid 70s, and as tight a batch of grooves as you'll find on their studio albums! In fact, this one might even be tighter, as it's got a good set of classic tracks performed live, with a sound that's a little bit more uptight and open than the studio versions– and which is especially freewheeling on the instrumental solos. Many tracks go for a lot longer than on the original versions – and there's a version of "Pick Up The Pieces" that runs for 18 minutes, a version of "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" that grooves for 8 minutes, a version of "School Boy Crush" that jams for 7 minutes, plus nice takes on the cuts "Cut The Cake", "Love Your Life", and "Cloudy".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Midnight Mover
Atlantic, 1966. Very Good-
Stone soul from Wilson Pickett – the kind of all-great Atlantic album that had Wilson standing above most of the filler-heavy soul acts of the time! The album's overflowing with great original tunes written by Pickett and a young Bobby Womack – wonderful work that revels in the raspy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Inner Spectrum
Atlantic, 1974. Very Good-
A tremendous debut from Ace Spectrum – a harmony quartet who never cracked the charts as much as some of their east coast contemporaries, but who were every bit as great as the bigger names on the east coast scene! The album's got a soaring sound that's strongly influenced by Philly, but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Live & More
Atlantic, 1980. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A double album from Roberta & Peabo – with some nicely recorded tracks from a gig at The Holiday Star Theater in Merrillville, IN (not too far south of Chicago) in the dawn of the 80s – and some tight studio material, too! It's got a some terrific live versions of some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sweets For My Sweet
Atlantic, 1969. Very Good+
Wonderful soul by one of the best female groups of the 60s! The Sweet Inspirations work here in a southern-tinged style similar to their classic backing work for Aretha Franklin – a sound that was already great behind Aretha, but which is even better here on its own – warm, spiritual, ... Players Association
Vanguard, 1977. Near Mint-
Great little stuff from The Players Association – one of those groups that you want to write off as throwaway disco before you listen, but who have a great sound when you really get into their music. Jazzman Chris Hills was at the head of the group, and he plays drums in the funky group that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Westbound, 1975. Good Gatefold
A tasty little album from Funkadelic – one that has Bootsy Collins joining the group, and really hitting the unique approach that would become the definitive P-Funk groove! And although tracks are shorter and even more focused, there's still a fair bit of guitar in the set – keeping ... LP, Vinyl record album
