4.90 11

Nice jazzy funk LP, with production by Norman Whitfield that sounds more like some of the work by Wayne Henderson from the time. The group's got a good polished funky feel, with lots of jazzy solos, and the tracks include "Return To Nytropolis", "People Of The Country", "Make It", "I've Paid My Dues", and "Orbit Of The Sun". (Cover has a few light creases.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Ain't It Funky
King, 1970. Very Good-

The record has James working with the pre-JBs James Brown Band – a tight assemblage of players who really know how to craft an off-kilter groove. The guitar's popping on the beat here as much as the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Back To The World
Curtom, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
Pure genius from Curtis Mayfield – and a record that's got all the righteousness and political power you might guess from the cover! The album burns with a sense of empowerment that's every bit the best strength of Curtom in the 70s – a sublime blend of heavy soul, funky undercurrents, ... LP, Vinyl record album
