An instant classic the day it was released – and a perfect blending of the group's older freaked-out style with a slick late 70s funk sound that started showing up in the work of many other groups. "One Nation Under A Groove" is a monster cut with a hook that won't quit, and the LP version runs way over 7 minutes long. Other tracks are equally great, and the whole thing's woven together with the same sort of skill as some of the best Parliament albums from the mid 70s. Tracks include "Into You", "Grooveallegiance", and "Cholly". (Original pressing, including the lyric sleeve but missing the 45. Cover has a cut corner and light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Back On The Right Track
Warner, 1979. Very Good+
Sly Stone's definitely back on the right track here – returning to the heights of his earlier powers in this late 70s comeback album for Warner Brothers! The record's got a lot of touches of the old Sly funky sound, but it's done in a slightly tighter style too – a bit more polish than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Classic modern soul from the legendary Frankie Beverly! The record's perhaps one of their best remembered – most likely for the killer cut "Joy & Pain", which has a great hook that's been sampled many times over the years. The record also features the wonderful "Southern ... LP, Vinyl record album

A stone classic from Bobby Womack – one of those records that has all his best elements firmly in place, put forward at a level that's sophisticated and polished, yet never too commercial at all! Bobby's voices are still incredible – that raspy, personal feel that's rooted in country ... LP, Vinyl record album

Swing Your Daddy
Roxbury, 1975. Very Good
A classic around these parts – mostly for the jazzy swing-beat of the title cut, which is a favorite among Chicago steppers. "Swing Your Daddy" is laid out in a long two part version – but there's also a lot of other nice cuts on the album, with a sound that's more in the ... LP, Vinyl record album
