Siena Concert
CD (Item 603926) Blue Note (Italy), 2008 — Condition: New Copy
Moody sounds from this legendary Italian pianist – working here in a live setting with a quartet, on a host of medley-based tunes that all feel pretty laidback and spontaneous – and downright reflective as well! Franco D'Andrea's very fluid piano lines are firmly at the center of the set – starting things off with that rich, introspective style that's been in place for decades – always on the edges of modern, but with enough warmth and lyricism to hold us rapt. Saxophonist Andrea Ayassot joins in on alto and soprano sax too – exploring gentle space with equally fluid lines – and the group's completed by Aldo Mella on bass and Zeno De Rossi on drums, who each take a greater role as the set moves on. Titles include "Altalena/March", "Into The Mystery/Riff/Dancin Thirds/Six Bars/Dancing Colours", "Monodic/Afro Abstraction/Deep", and "Slow Five/Another Riff". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
