One of Bill Withers' greatest albums of the 70s – a set that has hip stepping off the acoustic sound of his Sussex records, into a warm and jazzy style that we like every bit as much as his earlier work! The album's got a wonderfully sophisticated jazzy vibe, and includes the excellent cut "Lovely Day" – a perfect midtempo track with some great electric keyboards behind Bill's raspy soulful voice, and a great hook on the chorus! Paul Riser handled a lot of the arrangements – and other titles include "Wintertime", "It Ain't Because Of Me Baby", "I Want To Spend The Night", and "Then You Smile At Me". (Cover has edge wear, a factory sticker on the spine, and some marker in one corner. Label has some marker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A huge disco cash-in moment of the 70s – but a great one too, and a strong illustration of the power that Casablanca Records had in both the clubs and charts at the time! The movie and record were both a bit over-pressed upon release, but they nonetheless stand as a great snapshot of the way ... LP, Vinyl record album

A lesser-known pop soul release from the late 60s, by this former member of the Harlem Globetrotters! Marc's not much of a singer – but he does have a deep voice that's a good fit for the arrangements on the album. Jimmy Bowen produced, and there's a lot of his sweetly swinging 60s pop ... The Stylistics pay homage to some of the great vocal classics that came before them – in this set of smooth harmony soul arranged and conducted by Horace Ott. The band's vocals are still top-shelf at this point, even though the overall concept lacks some of the sublime quality of the earlier ... LP, Vinyl record album
