Scorching soul from Jasmine Kara – uptempo rhythm & blues with a killer band of players from Stockholm scene – an impressive debut for Acid Jazz! The set list is heavy with adapations of traditional material and blues from the Willie Dixon and old school Chess school – though it's done in a moddish mid 60 style – heavy drums and bass lines, soulful guitars, horns and keys. Jasmine's got a smoldering look, but it's all about the music here – and it's the real thing! The album was recorded over just a couple days at Stockholm's Cosmos Studios, which is the best way to do it. Produced by Michel Zitron & Johan Wetterburg, with an executive producer credit for Chess Records legacy-carrier Marshall Chess.
