CD (Item 579174) Mercury/Jazzclub (Germany), 1964/1965 — Condition: New Copy

Two early classics from Horst Jankowski – back to back on a single CD! First up is Genius Of Jankowski – and the genius of Jankowski here is in the way that Horst manages to create this sweet little groove every time he hits the keys of the piano – often syncopating the rhythms a bit in the background, which kicks up the lead instrument nicely – in ways that are quite different than the usual American easy approach of the early 60s! Jankowski's groove was a hit right off – and his trademark piano is also augmented by the Jankowski Singers, who twitter and titter along with the tunes – on titles that include the classic "A Walk In The Black Forest", plus "Sing Song", "Simple Gimpel", "Nola", "Soon Luck Will Knock On Your Door", "When The Girls Go Marching In", and "Toselli Serenade". Next, get set for More Genius from Horst Jankowski – a wonderful blend of electric bass in the rhythms and tinkling piano over the top – a rich new sound that Horst crafted for the 60s easy scene! The use of the bass really helps keep things fresh – quite different than the usual easy groove for the time – nicely rhythmic at most moments, even when the Jankowski Singers come into the mix to help out! Titles include "Cast Your Fate To The Wind", "Play A Simple Melody", "Canadian Sunset", "A Walk In Bavaria", "Berlin Stroll", and "Alpine Highway".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
