Bossa Jazz Trio Vol 2
CD (Item 543361) Fermata/Vivid (Japan), Mid 60s — Condition: New Copy
Bossa jazz and nothing but – a great second outing from Amilson Godoy and The Bossa Jazz Trio – heard here in all their fluid glory! As you might guess from their name, the group have a sound that's a fair bit like The Zimbo Trio or other piano-driven combos of the time – a lean and jazz-based take on the sound of bossa nova, and one that reduces the whole groove down to some extremely tight interplay on the keys of the piano, snare of the drum kit, and most rhythmic tones of the bass! Godoy's keyboard work is quite bold at times – striking out with a depth that really grabs us, then stepping back into the rhythmic progression of the tunes – a bit like Luiz Eca at his early best. Titles include "Labareda", "De Manha", "Zero Hora", "Canto De Ossanha", "Da Me", "Deixa", "Ternamente", "Amanha", "Sonho De Um Carnaval", and "Vim De Santana".
