A landmark album – even if it was the only session that Cannonball Adderley ever cut for Blue Note! The album was recorded at a time when Adderley was working with Miles Davis – and as such, the session features a group that includes Miles, blowing in a cool tone that's a perfect offset to Cannonball's more soulful style. The rest of the group includes Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey – and like John Coltrane's Blue Train, the record's more of an "special session" than the usual Blue Note album, but the strength of the players make it one of the more memorable records of its day! Titles include "Somethin' Else", "One For Daddy-O", and a nice moody take on "Dancing In The Dark". (63rd street deep groove pressing! Cover has some wear, some staining on the back, two ink stamps, a large name in marker, and clear tape along the spine & seams.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Capitol, Early 70s/1976. Near Mint-
Excellent live set from the early 70's, featuring George Duke, Airto, Ernie Watts, and brother Nat. David Axelrod produced, and the LP's got that nice hard funky sound that he did so well during his stint with Cannonball. Includes the 12 minute groover "The Brakes", plus "Oh ... Capitol, Early 70s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
One of Cannonball's best, and wildest, from the Capitol/David Axelrod years. The set was recorded live at The Troubadour in LA, and the music's a wild mix of funk, jazz, and noise, with Cannonball on alto, Nat on cornet, George Duke on piano, Walter Booker on bass, and Airto on percussion. Fantasy, 1975. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
Sweet funky 70s work from Cannonball Adderley – a record that has him revisiting older tunes from his early soul jazz years – but in ways that give them a whole new electric vibe overall! The album's actually Cannonball's last full studio set, but it's also one of his greatest too ... LP, Vinyl record album
