Ndigal
LP (Item 597752) Teranga Beat (Senegal), 1984 — Condition: New Copy
Never-heard sounds from Karantamba – a rare live performance from the mid 80s, recorded in a small nightclub in Senegal – and featuring a tripped-out group led by Bai Janha – the creative force behind Guelewar and Supreme Eagles! The sound is a lot more psychedelic than most other African music of the 80s – with a strong emphasis on extended guitar parts that are dripping with really cool sounds – mixed with lots of live percussion that really preserves a rootsy, earthy quality to the music! At a time when so many others were going for world music crossover sounds, these guys really keep things real – especially in the intimate live setting of the performance. Titles include "Sama Yai", "Gore Nga", "Na Dinding Fatty", "Ndigal", "Satay Muso", and "Linga Ham". Great notes and images, too – like other high-quality releases on this label! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
