LP (Item 591209) Monde Green (Spain), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Heavy congas, hard-hitting horns, and tight soulful vocals – an excellent debut set from Watch Out – one of the funkiest European combos we've heard in years! The group have a natural, organic feel that's very nice – a way of serving up the kind of full funky sound that you'd hear from the 70s mainstream in the US, but with an energy that's much more fitting to a more obscure, funky 45 sort of outfit! This blend of modes comes from some especially thoughtful production – a way of recording the record that sets the group apart from both the frequent American and British funky albums of this nature – and even from some of their Spanish contemporaries as well. Instrumentation is always tight, and the rhythms are almost always at the head of the pack – kicking things off with a groove first, then letting the vocals and melodic moments follow along in the mix. Titles include "Black Cat", "Tap The Time", "Tasting", "K Cheese", "Check 5", "Everybody's Getting Down", and "Tea Pot". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
