Early funk from the Commodores – back in the days when Lionel Richie could still get up and groove! We'll be the first to admit that we're sometimes put off by the group, given their later hits, but it's records like this that actually remind us how great they could be – a mixture of funk and sweet soul, done with an incredibly well-crafted approach, and enough of a blend of the two styles to keep things interesting! The album's got a wonderfully tight quality – never slick or too smooth, but just nicely put together – commercial, but not so much so that it loses its soul. Titles include "Quick Draw", "Just To Be Close To You", "High On Sunshine", "Let's Get Started", "Can't Let You Tease Me", "Come Inside", and "Thumpin Music". (Cover has some marker on front and peeling on back. Label has some marker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Together
Motown, 1969. Very Good+ Gatefold
Motown's second pairing of its two biggest groups of the late 60s – a massive 7-voiced meeting in soul music, with results that are surprisingly great! Frank Wilson produced the whole set, and he does a good job of keeping all players in check – never letting the whole thing get too ... LP, Vinyl record album

Motown, Late 60s/Mid 70s. Very Good+ 3LP Gatefold
A great set of Stevie's best tracks for Motown! 3 LPs deep, with 40 tracks in all, mostly from the late 60s, with a handful of numbers from the early 70s, including a few goodies that are getting tougher to find on wax. Includes "Hey Love", "Angie Girl", "Yester-Me, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Motown, 1964. Near Mint-
It's only 1964, early in Motown's history, but Mary's managed to rack up a considerable batch of hits – no surprise since she was one of the label's best female singers of the early years! This set features 12 classics by Mary – including "You Beat Me To The Punch", "My ... LP, Vinyl record album

Blowfly Disco
Weird World, Late 70s. Good+
Excellent stuff from Blow Fly – and a great bit of funk that's a hilarious parody of disco! Blow's band funks it up with riffs that you'd hear from The JBs, BT Express, or other groups of the time – while Blow himself sings these very off-color, and very funny lyrics that rip off the ...
