Resection
CD (Item 572925) Bolage (Norway), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Full, fluid work from this hip Norwegian quartet – a group who come together with beautifully tight horn formations at the front, yet who can also open up with free energy that's really great too! The sound is driven strongly by the trumpet of Thomas Johansson and tenor of Kristoffer Berre Alberts, but the bass of Olya Hoyer and drums of Gard Nilssen also jump into the frenzy with almost equal power too – following the rhythmic pulsations of the horns in a way that's a bit like the sound of the Ornette Coleman group at the start of the 60s! The music here is equally bracing, and even more fresh overall – and titles include "Phineas Gage", "Neocortex", "Archicortex", "Frontal Lobe", and "Auditory Cortex". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
