The notes claim that this one has a "Big Easy bounce" – and they're definitely not kidding! The set's a great batch of New Orleans funk – one of the many releases in the always-getting-better series from Funky Delicacies, and a long overdue look at this obscure heavy funk combo. The tracks were all recorded in New Orleans during the early 70s – and they've got a bouncing bass-y groove that reminds us a lot of work by heavy funk combos like SOUL or The Counts. Bass, guitar, and organ are the main stars here – with occasional clavinet grooving, and also a bit of funky flute. Vocals on most cuts – and titles include "Get A Little Bit", "Junk", "Take Me There", "Who Cares", "Rip Off (parts 1 & 2)", "Just Having A Party (parts 1 & 2)", "Boogie Woogie", and "I Want You Girl".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Unreleased material by Ike & Tina Turner – hard, funky, and very fierce! The sound here is similar to some of the pair's more famous albums of the time – but it's also rawer and rootsier, as befits the demo status of these recordings. Excellent compilation of tight funky New Orleans tracks by the great Eddie Bo. A wealth of funky instrumentals – never issued before! Sam & The Soul Machine were a funky New Orleans combo that had a sound that was a heck of a lot like the Meters – dubby bass, tight snapping drums, and some warm and bubbling organ work that gave the music a sweetly soulful ... Great stuff – and the only truly funky album that Ike Turner ever recorded! A St Louis combo from the late 70s – with a groove that's equal part jazzy club and blue-eyed soul! A real lost treasure on Hi Records – one of the few albums ever cut by Don Bryant, a singer whose talents seemed to be eclipsed by the rising stars of Al Green and Ann Peebles – but who was every bit as great!
