Just Having A Party – Rare New Orleans Funk From The Vaults
LP (Item 42794) Funky Delicacies/Tuff City, Late 60s/Mid 70s — Condition: New Copy
The notes claim that this one has a "Big Easy bounce" – and they're definitely not kidding! The set's a great batch of New Orleans funk – one of the many releases in the always-getting-better series from Funky Delicacies, and a long overdue look at this obscure heavy funk combo. The tracks were all recorded in New Orleans during the early 70s – and they've got a bouncing bass-y groove that reminds us a lot of work by heavy funk combos like SOUL or The Counts. Bass, guitar, and organ are the main stars here – with occasional clavinet grooving, and also a bit of funky flute. Vocals on most cuts – and titles include "Get A Little Bit", "Junk", "Take Me There", "Who Cares", "Rip Off (parts 1 & 2)", "Just Having A Party (parts 1 & 2)", "Boogie Woogie", and "I Want You Girl". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
