Cosmic hip hop soul from Om'Mas Keith, Shafiq Husayn & Taz Arnold – a long awaited proper full length from the Sa-Ra Creative Partners – and an excellent one! Sa-Ra's signature spacey funk & beatcraft, hypnotic and boundless grooves have been critical behind the scenes for some of their superstar friends, most famously Kanye West and Erykah Badu, but Sa-Ra's own records haven't gotten them to mainstream hugeness. The mainstream's loss is the indie scene's gain, though, as this set for Ubiquity as all we hoped it would be and more. The beats and bass are insistent, headnodding hip hop funk, with spacier textures galore, and the tunes range from an astral hip hop soul to jazzy funk, and the roster of guests is as deep as Sa-Ra's music – from Erykah Badu, to other female vocalists such as Debi Nova, Noni Limar & Rozzi Dame bringing the sweeter vibes, plus legendary jazz sax great Gary Bartz and his quartet!
