On Two Pianos

CD (Item 599008) Deutsche Grammophon, 1982 — Condition: New Copy

A mixture of jazz improvisation and more avant ideas – performed by twin pianists Chick Corea and Nicolas Economou during the Munic Summer Piano Festival in 1982! The session is a great reminder that, even at a time when Chick was cutting some music that was very commercially successful, there was a side of his talents that always remained richly creative – and focused on exploring some great new ideas! The first 9 tracks here are wonderful – a suite of improvisations between the two players, with some very open-ended lines. Next the pair play six pieces from Bela Bartok's "Mikrokosmos", then move into three pieces by Corea – "Homecoming", "Duet For Two Pianos", and "Invention" – often done with that great sense of flow that's always made Chick's work on acoustic piano so great!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
