Damn, is this a great record! The album's not only one of the best blacksploitation soundtracks ever recorded, it's also one of James Brown's funkiest outings of the early 70s! Nearly every cut's a winner, and James gets some very funky help from The JBs, who groove hard on the best instrumental cuts, plus Lyn Collins, who sings a sock version of "Mama Feelgood" that's worth the price of the record alone! Includes the classic "Down & Out in New York City", plus "Blind Man Can See It", "Sportin' Life", "The Boss", "Dirty Harri", and "Chase".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Polydor, Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)
A real killer from James Brown – and one of his most open-ended LPs of the early 70s! The record's got tracks that kind of go a lot further than those on many of James' other albums (except maybe Payback, which has loads of long cuts) – and it includes an extended 9 minute reading of ... Polydor, 1974. New Copy (reissue)
A gem of a full-length set from Executive Suite – a Philly quartet who are probably best known for their singles in the 70s, but who really find a great way to open up here in the course of an expanded album! Some of the tracks are nice and long – done in a two-part style that really ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atlantic, 1969. New Copy (reissue)
Excellent early work from Clarence Carter – recording here with production and arrangements by Rick Hall – in that sweet Muscle Shoals style that never sounded better than it did with Clarence! Carter had a way of working with Hall that was really beyond some of the cliches that crept ... LP, Vinyl record album

People, 1974. New Copy (reissue)
A killer-diller bit of essential funk – the only full album cut by Maceo with James Brown production! The set's got Maceo coming back strongly into the JB fold, with a fierce array of funky cuts that kick it every bit as hard as the best JBs work of the time. No surprise, the JBs are ... Tramp (Germany), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy Gatefold
Funky sax genius from Professor Earl Lett – a cool combo player who cut some great funky 45s at the end of the 60s and start of the 70s! The cuts here are a mix of instrumental and vocal numbers – but even the latter have plenty of reed work from Earl, blown with a sharp-edged and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Family Groove, 1984. New Copy
A previously-unreleased album from Aurra – laid down in the studio after the group's famous run for Salsoul Records – and with a groove that's even leaner and meaner than before! Mainmain Steve Washington is still at the helm of the group – but vocals are handled by Mark Stevens ... LP, Vinyl record album
