It's been 3 decades since Brian Wilson first recorded a Christmas album, but from the sound of this set, it feels like it's only been 3 weeks! This surprisingly great album follows strongly in the spirit of the original Beach Boys Christmas Album of the 60s -- overflowing with warm pop harmonies topped off by Brian's lead, and often featuring arrangements that take us back to the sound of the original -- recreated here with the same faithfulness of Wilson's Smile comeback session. The album includes 2 great new tracks -- "What I Really Want For Christmas" and "Christmasey" -- plus versions of "Little St Nick", "The First Noel", "The Man With All The Toys", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", and "Deck The Halls". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
