Seminare Vento
CD (Item 587226) Free Lance (France), 2009 — Condition: New Copy
Alexandra Grimal plays some richly expressive soprano sax on this set – blowing the instrument beautifully, with a depth of tone that's really surprising, especially given the sometimes-spare structure of the tunes! In a way, Grimal's work on the soprano echoes that of some of the freer players of the 70s and 80s – yet she's always blowing inside, and with a very gentle sense of rhythm – a bit Jimmy Giuffre at moments, but very much her own player too – as proven by the numbers that also feature tenor. Accompaniment is equally subtle – a bit of piano from Giovanni Di Domenico, bass from Manolo Cabras, and drums from Joao Lobo – on titles that include "Sans Raison", "Eh", "Mitote", "Aranda", "Crista", and "Marcher". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
