He's A Rebel

LP (Item 619687) Philles/Sundazed, 1963 — Condition: New Copy

The second album by The Crystals – and a glorious batch of prime girl group grooves produced by Phil Spector! The He's A Rebel album is essentially a new version of the rare Twist Uptown from the previous year – one that gave the group a better shot at reaching a huge audience, thanks to the success of the title track as a single. It's as perfect of a set of early 60s pop as you could ask for – sung beautifully by The Crystals – and a prime collection of iconic Spector-produced/Wrecking Crew-played/Brill Building-penned classics. This album also includes the surface-sweet, though dark underneath "He Hit Me (It Felt Like A Kiss)" – plus the Wall Of Sound classics "Uptown", "Oh Yeah, Maybe Baby", "He's Sure The Boy I Love", "What A Way To Turn Seventeen", "I Love You Eddie" and more.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
