A stunner of a set from Mike Seeger – the kind of perfect rootsy folk album that Vanguard Records could do so well back in the 60s! Mike's got this way of delivering tunes that's a fair bit more faithful than some of his contemporaries – no pop softening, or catchy choruses – and instead, a rich batch of mostly-traditional tunes – recorded just with vocals, and accompaniment by Seeger on either banjo, guitar, fiddle, or autoharp, depending on the track. The result is an album that has an almost Folkways sort of quality – with tunes that include "Hello Stranger", "We Live A Long Long Time", "Two Soldiers", "Leather Breeches", "Waterbound", and "Young McAfee On The Gallows". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
