Smile -- The Story Of Brian Wilson's Lost Masterpiece

Add Item to Want List
Book (Item 454704) Sanctuary, 2005 -- Condition: New Copy

A well-done look at the famous album that almost wasn't -- The Beach Boys' legendary Smile album, never properly issued in the 60s -- and only recently released in its true form by Brian Wilson! Author Dominic Priore is a great person to tell the tale of the record -- as he's written countless liner notes and other bits on The Beach Boys -- and has already compiled a wealth of original source documents in his essential Look Listen Vibrate Smile book. Here, he starts out with a brief history of the group, but then really gets into the nitty gritty of Smile, its ongoing string of promises and failures, and ultimate under-realized musical genius. The book ends with a brief tale of Smile's eventual release in the 21st Century -- and also features a great appendix with original illustrations from the album's booklet! Features introductions from Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks -- plus some black and white images too. 199 pages, softcover.  © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
