An amazing follow-up to the first volume in this series -- packaged even more beautifully than before, and filled with wonderful grooves we've never heard before! The label's really dug deep this time around -- going way past the obvious Cuban stars who've crossed over to our market here -- and focusing instead on some of the lesser-known artists and combos who were making some really massive music back in the 70s! There's a very heavy dose of funk on most cuts here -- but the rhythms also show plenty of Afro-Cuban influence as well -- a cool cooking up of classic and contemporary Cuban modes, with a sound that's completely sublime. The first volume really opened our ears, but this second set is blowing our minds -- and our collective hats are off to the gents at Waxing Deep for doing such a great job!
