Plays The Theme From Love Story

A pretty wild album from Henry Mancini – one that's a lot better than the title might make it sound! The set's made up of a lot of late 60s/early 70s film themes – but Mancini's approach to them is nothing short of mad – mixing in strange arrangements, complicated rhythms, and weird touches that include harmonica, tinkling piano, and some dreamy chorus vocals! The whole thing's got a complicated approach to sound that's totally great – and which moves the music way past simple cover versions of hit film themes at the time. Titles include "Theme For Three", "Borsalino", "Loss Of Love", "Thank You Very Much", "MASH", "Love Story", and "The Harmonica Man". (Orange label pressing.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Dyno Voice, 1967. Near Mint- Gatefold
Groovy, BABY! Bob Crewe's swingin' follow-up to his Music to Watch Girls By, given a slightly Brit easy twist with cuts like "Birds of Britain", and "Chelsea Girls". Very groovy, with a swingin London sound. As the lyrics to "Birds" go, "Chasin after chicks is ... LP, Vinyl record album

Quiet Village
Liberty, Late 50s. Near Mint-
An undisputed classic in the exotica genre – and the record that yielded Martin Denny his biggest hit! The title track "Quiet Village" was originally written by Les Baxter, but it was Martin Denny's approach that really managed to send the tune over the top – using spare ... LP, Vinyl record album

Africana!
Strand, Late 50s. Very Good+
Traditional African sounding stuff, but we're not sure if it's legit, or played by some West Coast studio musicians. The cover's got a nice cartoony look to it, with a fearful female face peering over a jungle landscape. LP, Vinyl record album
