The best set yet from Atlanta singer Heston – whose warm, emotive voice and timelessly crafted style has long put him in the upper tier of independent soul artists for the better part of decade leading up to this excellent album! The songs are are supremely catchy and brilliantly draw from the best intimate soul music of the 70s without ever flirting with throwback/retrosoul revivalism. Heston produced the album, and he delivers masterfully on that front, too – backed by guitar, bass, drums, keys percussion and some horns, and each track has a nice, live feel. Includes "Greatest Lover", "Outside Your Window", "My Kinda Lady", "For Love", "Warm Human", "She Lives In Me", "Crazy", "In These Arms", "Lonely In My Room", "Right Here", "Oh La La".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Expansion (UK), 2013. New Copy
A tremendous little record from Muzart – upbeat, positive, and wonderfully grooving right from the start – served up in a beautiful blend of club rhythms and righteous soul, all with a sense of precision that we haven't heard this well in years! The vibe here is a bit contemporary, but ... CD
We Can Do Whatever
Expansion (UK), 1996. New Copy
The long-overdue release of an album that should have been a Neo Soul classic! The team of Otis Cooper and Shugg David recorded this gem of a set back in the mid 90s along with help from longtime friend and producer Raphael Saadiq – but due to shifting priorities at the major label, the set ... CD

Do Right (Canada), 2008. New Copy
The most deeply soulful set so far from Ivana Santilli! The beats and bottom of the record are a lot heavier than before – and set perfectly to Ivana's well-voiced lyrics, which go far beyond simple soul cliches, and really show a nice push forward in her songwriting abilities over the years. ... Love Stories
Boobeescoot, 2000. New Copy
A beautiful debut from Frank McComb – a singer we've really grown to love and know well from his indie releases of the 21st Century, but who surprisingly got his start on a major label! The album's near perfect all the way through – as wonderful a mellow soul document as you could hope ... CD

Shanachie, 2013. New Copy
The first ever full length collaboration from contemporary soul veterans Musiq Soulchild and Syleena Johnson – and it's by no means a predictable male/female joint R&B record – they're rolling with a sound enriched by their mutual love of reggae! Musiq and Syleena both went through ... CD
Epic/Big Break (UK), 1977. New Copy
Joe Tex bumps with the best of his contemporaries in the 70s – but at a level that still holds onto all the warmth and humanity of his earlier recordings too! There's definitely a bit of a dancefloor groove to the record, but it never dampens the spirit in Joe's vocals – and in a way, ... CD

Jean Carne takes it back nicely here – serving up a surprisingly great batch of mellow soul tunes that really recall the brilliance of her work for the Philly International label! There's definitely lots of Philly elements in the music – no surprise, given that production is by Butch ... CD

Discobertas (Brazil), 1950s. New Copy 3 CDs
A great collection of vintage work from Brazilian singer Moreira Da Silva – including a fair bit of tracks originally only issued as 78rpm singles! The collection features two CDs' worth of material from 78s, plus the full album O Tal from later in the decade – but even that is ... CD
Festa Do Chorinho Vol 1
Discobertas (Brazil), 2013. New Copy
A great revival of older choro modes – played in a style that's quite faithful to the original, and which is recorded in a spare, simple style that's mighty nice! The set's oddly missing notes on the musicians, but instrumentation includes lots of percussion on tamborim, sweet lyrical lines ... CD
