Winterland (4CD box set)
CD (Item 581602) Experience Hendrix/Legacy, 1968 — Condition: New Copy
The Jimi Hendrix Experience in peak, fierce form at Winterland – compiled from the series of shows the trio put on at the iconic San Francisco ballroom over 3 days in October, 1968! Amazing stuff that's worthy of Jimi's legend – his own classic numbers performed here as loosely and fiery as ever, plus great covers that bring new life to the work of contemporaries Dylan and Cream. Most importantly, the sound is incredible – the group was captured brilliantly enough that it sounds great well more than 40 years later! The 4CD edition comes in a beautiful, oversized box set package with a booklet of never before published photos from the Winterland performances plus an extended backstage interview with Jimi – culled from days of performances (2 sets per day) from 10/10/68 to 10/12/68 – with alternate performances of several jams so you can get a really great sense of their day-to-day explorations! Disc One includes recordings from 10/10/68, Disc Two features recordings from 10/11/68 and Disc Three from 10/12/68. The bonus 4th disc includes more standout recordings from each date, plus Jimi Hendrix: Boston Garden Backstage Interview. The sets include "Tax Free", "Lover Man", "Sunshine Of Your Love", "Like A Rolling Stone", "Hey Joe", "Fire", "Foxey Lady", "Spanish Castle Music", "Purple Haze", "Wild Thing", "Red House", "Are You Experienced?", "Star Spangled Banner", "Manic Depression" and more. Incredible! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
