Soul Twins – The Heartstoppers Meet Susan Phillips (Heartstoppers/Soft Sexy Soul plus bonus tracks)
CD (Item 466315) All Platinum/Outta Sight (UK), 1971 — Condition: New Copy
A pair of killer female fronted rare soul sets from 1971 – the self-titled gem by The Heartstoppers and Soft Sexy Soul by Susan Phillips – well paired for this single package resurrection on Outta Sight UK! The Heartstoppers are the foursome of Betty Baker, Tina Lee, plus sisters Joyce and Geraldine Curry – who deliver heart tugging soul with depth and beauty on the excellent album. Includes slower numbers with intense emotions and strings that bring intimacy more than lushness, as well as more vamping guitar and brass flavored stormers. Titles include "Lost (Without You)", "Miss Lonely Heart", "The Ice Is Melting", More Of You", "A Few Moments Of Pleasure", "Brainwashed By Love" and more – including 6 bonus tracks! Soft Sexy Soul is an appropriately titled set from Susan Phillips, who earlier recorded as Sharon Soul for the Coral label, but this one's a wonderful, deeply affecting set of tender heart & soul music for the All Platinum label. The production is a wonderful mix of stripped down grooves with just the right amount of sweet strings, horns, piano and backing vocals. Rare and great! Titles include "He's Gone", "Answer To A Prayer", "Please Don't Keep Me Lonely", "He Knows My Key (Is Always In The Mailbox)", "Just How Long", "Goodbye My Love" and more, plus the bonus track, a version of "He Knows My Key (Is Always In The Mailbox)" by Vivian Copeland. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
