Not Chinese Rocks, ala Johnny Thunders – but a cool collection of Southeast Asian rock from the 60s – lots of jangle pop and garagey numbers that definitely owe a lot to the Anglo world of the time! Many of the lyrics are in English, and some of the tunes are covers – but these versions are definitely unusual ones – and really stand out with some of the rougher edges and odd instrumental twists – especially given that some of the best tracks on the set are instrumentals! There's plenty of fuzzy guitar, and most numbers sound a lot like more familiar Japanese takes on rock styles of the time – with titles that include "Steps Theme" by The Steps, "I Love A Go Go" by Shao Fong Fong, "Midnight Express" by The Fabulous Falcons, "Lies" by The Hi-Fi Twins & The Kings, "Bombora" by Blue Lake Combo, "Call My Name" by The Thunderbirds, "Shakin All Over" by Johnny Tan, and "Hey Girl" by The Siglap 5. (On yellow vinyl, too!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Searing samba soul from Jorge Ben – one of his best-remembered albums of the 70s, and for good reason too!
