Excitable
CD (Item 580053) Detroit Jazz Musicians Coop, 2009 — Condition: New Copy
A great old school sort of vocal set from singer Joan Belgrave – the kind of no-nonsense record they hardly seem to make anymore! The album really takes us back to those days when every city had a strong local vocalist – the kind of singer who never really cracked the mainstream, but who could hold the regional crowds rapt with their talents – a singer just like Joan Belgrave, who's been making some great contributions to the Detroit scene for many years! This set features key contributions from trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, as you might expect – who helps keep the music sophisticated and soulful, heading up an ensemble of strong local players. Titles include "Excitable", "I'll String Along With You", "Me Myself & I", "He Called My Name", "You Leave Me Breathless", "East Of The Sun", and "When A Woman Loves A Man". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
