Essential reissue of this great mellow grooving soul LP from the late 70s! All the tracks are very deep, in the vein of Leroy Hutson, but with a club-tinged groove that makes the music even more solid for groovers. Includes the classic cut "Give Me the Sunshine", and the original recording of "I'm Back for More", which was the big hit for Al Johnson a few years later. Great stuff, with a very smooth sound and an excellent approach to production. There's a total of 8 cuts – 4 vocals, and 4 instrumental versions of the same tracks – just right for DJs!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Not the band's first album – as you might think from the "start" in the title – but a classic batch of jazzy, funky, and soulful grooves from The Blackbyrds – one of those combos that few groups could match back in the 70s! The set's got a beautifully put-together feel ... LP, Vinyl record album

Totally great – and a record you probably know nothing about! The album's one of the greatest ever to come out of the Hotlanta scene of the 70s – a tight batch of funk tracks with a heck of a lot of guitar. The set was produced by Tommy Stewart, of "Bump and Hustle" fame ... LP, Vinyl record album

What Is It
BGP (UK), 1971. New Copy (reissue)
Quite possibly the best album ever from this fantastic funky combo! The band grooves hard and funky – with incredible drum work from Paul Stubblefield, tasty guitar from Walter Winston, and some famous funky flute and sax work from Gus Hawkins. Tracks on the album are rough and raw – ... LP, Vinyl record album
