Wicked early work from Junior Kimbrough – sides that are quite different than some of his better-known recordings over the years! The material was cut in Memphis in 1966 by producer Quinton Claunch – and it's got a spare, rootsy quality that's totally great – slow moving drums underneath some echoey guitar – and great flat-nosed vocals from Junior that really send the tunes home – almost with a quality that makes you feel like he's humming the lyrics instead of singing them! Titles include two versions of "Feels So Good", plus "Meet Me In The City", "Lonesome In My Home", "Done Got Old", and "Feels So Bad". Very cool 10" LP package too! (Includes code for digital download.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Yazoo, 1931. New Copy (reissue)
Exactly the kind of a record to show why Skip James was really a cut above most of his contemporaries – a bluesman who works here with a sense of darkness and foreboding that really sets a chill to most of his tunes! There's less of the usual short-term sadness and smaller complaints of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Document/Third Man, Late 20s. New Copy
A great collection of the earliest work of Blind Willie McTell – all recordings made in Atlanta between 1927 and 1929 – served up in a wonderfully spare style that really showcases Willie's work on vocals and guitar! The latter "sings" as much as the former here – often ... LP, Vinyl record album
Daptone, 2013. New Copy
Rootsy gospel from The Como Mamas – a tremendous trio of female singers, working here in an all-acapella mode that's completely sublime! The set's an offshoot of the Como Now project done by Daptone a few years ago, and has the same timeless feel – quite a difference from the heavy ... LP, Vinyl record album
