Rare funk from the Kelekye Band – material recorded after their legendary Moving World album, but never issued at the time! This amazing package is totally great – four tracks of offbeat Afro Funk, with an approach that's heavy on percussion, and topped by jazzy riffs that really complicate the sound – a vibe that goes way deeper than more common Afro modes of the time, thanks to the rich solo energy of the horns! Trumpet is especially nice, and works great with the vocals – especially when they hit a warmer 70s soul mode that almost makes the record feel like Hugh Masekela teaming up with The Blackbyrds. Titles include "Mother Africa", "Munchin Session", "Too Bad Girl", and "Jungle Funk".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Cultures Of Soul, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
Rare early 70s funky soul from Memphis by Fabulous Fugitives! There's a raw, gritty funk groove running underneath "What The World Needs" – keeping the groove on something of a low boil, but still quite funky – leaving the more charged aspects of the number to come out in the ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Expansion (UK), 2013. New Copy
One of our favorite tracks ever from the great Gregory Porter – and one of the best recent jazz vocal tunes in years – all served up in a sweetly compact 45 edit that still retains all the care and charm of the original! "1960 What" gets similar treatment too – all ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Big Muffler/Snake Oil Man
Secret Stash, 2013. New Copy
Killer contemporary Afrobeat from Black Market Brass! "Big Muffler" has deep sounds at the bottom that perfectly match the sharp guitar and horns on the top – a brooding bassy energy that really gives the whole thing a very classic feel – and a sound that's mighty funky too! ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Outta Sight (UK), 1965/1966. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)
The 100th single in the Outta Sight series – issued here in a mighty sweet pic sleeve cover! "Skiing In The Snow" is a harmony stormer with a great Northern groove – hardly the kind of cut you might expect from the title, although there seems to be an odd echo of "Canadia ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Psychedelic Soul (parts 1 & 3)
Thomas/Outta Sight (UK), 1968. New Copy
Tripped-out soul from the Chicago scene of the 60s – a killer groove from Saxie Russell! Part 1 features Saxie's rough vocals stepping out in front of the tune's quick-stepping rhythms – a kind of early funk approach that has the group rumbling along at a mighty fast clip with a few ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Fairytale Ending/Love's Work
Expansion (UK), 2013. New Copy
Robin McKelle sounds mighty nice on "Fairytale Ending" – a tune with a great 60s soul finish, and almost a Dusty Springfield sort of vibe – but we're even more partial to "Love's Work", as it features some guest vocals from Gregory Porter – who slides in ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
