A very unusual session from pianist Horace Tapscott – one that adds in two string players to his more familiar trio setting, while still holding onto all the best creative energy of his other work of the time! Tapscott's piano is backed by the bass of Roberto Miranda and drums of Everette Brown in the core trio – and the cello of Louis Spears and violin of Melvin Moore provide an additional layer of color – instruments that are used in really creative ways, but quite uniquely too – violin that's not necessarily in the Leroy Jenkins or Billy Bang mode, with its own cool approach – and cello that works in beautiful ways to shade in the sounds.
