CD (Item 586604) BGO (UK), 1976/1977/1978 — Condition: New Copy

A 2CD set that collections some of Graham Collier's more striking works! Day Of The Dead was originally a 2LP set, one of Graham Collier's longer concepts. It's a suite based on the work of Malcolm Lowry – and includes spoken passages from Under The Volcano, Dark As The Grave Wherein My Friend Is Laid, and Forest Path To The Spring, all set to evocative backdrops by a group that includes Alan Wakeman, Roger Dean, Mike Page, Harry Beckett, Peter Duncan, and Collier himself. Disc one of this set features all 8 parts. The 20+ minute "October Ferry" begins disc two, which also includes Symphony Of Scorpions – a fairly out, moody performance – recorded by Collier at Ronnie Scotts in 1976, reflecting the explorations in jazz that he begun during the early 70s. The core mood is set by intertwining saxophones, laid over patterns of color painted by the group. Players include Harry Beckett, Henry Lowther, Roger Dean, Art Theme, and Collier himself. Features the extended "Symphony Of Scorpions", (in 4 parts) plus "Forest Path To The Spring".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
