Obscure Ornette quartet LP for Impulse, featuring him, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and his son Ornette Denardo (at 12) on drums. 4 tracks featuring prime middle-period playing by Ornette, including "C.O.D.", "New York", and "Bells and Chimes". Ornette also plays trumpet and violin. Nice gatefold with very sweet photos of the two Ornettes together. (Original rainbow label pressing. Cover is nice!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Impulse, 1965. Very Good Gatefold
Great later Coleman Hawkins on Impulse – just the sort of deep-toned, soulfully-blown record that makes all his sessions for the label so great! Portrait Of Jenny
Perception, 1971. Very Good
A sweet slow and groovy funk LP recorded by Dizzy for the Perception label! The record is similar to his other LPs from the time in that it's got a cool electric feel that you don't really associate with Diz. The whole album has a sly sweet funky sound that's part CTI/part Latin-tinged Dizzy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Coldwater Flat
Blue Note, Late 60s. Very Good Gatefold
A brilliant pairing of the Three Sounds trio with the larger arrangements of reedman Oliver Nelson – easily one of the most soulful bandleaders of the 60s, and a talent who really helps open up the trio's groove! The piano of Gene Harris is nice and sharp – played with a soulful sock ... LP, Vinyl record album
